Can you imagine picking up glass throwaways by the side of the road, turning the glass into powder, and creating beautiful beads. Glass beadmaking is also an ancient tradition in Africa where it has been practiced for at least 1000 years. The two techniques for making glass beads that dominate in Africa are Powder-glass Beadmaking and Bida Glass Beadmaking.
The Ashanti black glass disc beads are produced by the Ghanaians, they have been making beads in this manner since the 1600s. The focal bead is gunmetal nugget, with assorted silver beads, black iridescent shell beads, and a few grey Swarovski crystals for sparkle. The ornate toggle clasp is silver plated, with a dangle of silver tube and Chinese crystal.
All pieces are designed by me. I make all bracelets to fit a standard 6" wrist unless another size is requested. All my bracelets are meant to gently drape from the wrist slightly onto the hand. When measuring for a specific size, please use a soft measuring tape, fitting snugly around the wrist bone. I will take into account the size it needs to be to fit you perfectly. All pieces are one of a kind and not duplicated.
